MAKE-UP/HAIR:  If wearing make-up or nail polish, avoid bright colors.  Keep nails clean and well manicured.  Long, acrylic nails are not recommended.  Make sure your hair is well kept and out of your face.  If your hair is long, you may want to pull it back.  Use unscented or subtle scented hair products.  Refrain from using perfumes since they could come off smelling too strong.  But remember to use deodorant!

ACCESSORIES:  It is a good idea to purchase a leather portfolio that includes a pad of paper (for jotting down questions and notes), a folder that can hold copies of your resume and reference page, and a pen. Leave backpacks behind if possible.  You can also borrow a portfolio from the Center for Career Services by calling extension 2375.

Business Casual

In some cases, company information sessions and career panels call for candidates to wear business casual attire.  The definition of business casual can depend on the company or the industry.  For example, business casual in the banking industry could mean a pantsuit while in the high tech industry it could mean a sweater and pants.  Here are some examples of business casual attire.
